A book that helps prepare older siblings for the arrival of twins Friday 25th of November 2011 The arrival of twins is life changing for all members of the family but perhaps older siblings will feel it the most, particularly those who were only children and who will find their world completely altered. The concept of having to share and not being the centre of everything will take time adjusting to. Twins can be all consuming time wise and even with the best will in the world, Mum and dad have to absorb the changes in their own lives too.Preparing siblings in advance is incredibly important and little ones will love The Baby Twins by Janey Louise Jones. This book tells the story of Poppy who is so excited that her mum is going to have twins. She can't wait for them to be born but when the babies come at last, things don't turn out quite as Poppy expected and her life is turned upside own! It's important for childrens wellbeing and happiness to know what to expect, both the changes they'll experience day to day around the house AND how they'll feel about it too. Poppy feels resentful as she's not getting enough attention. Your child will be able to empathise with that and not feel isolated if she feels this way too. Poppy behaves badly - your child will recognise naughty and inappropriate behaviour. And the story has a happy ending - Poppy soon gets used to life with the twins and loves being a big sister. Importantly she realizes that whatever happens she is still Mum's little princess. This is a lovely book, ideal for preparing siblings for the arrival of twins. more |
